About this position:
This is a part-time temporary position up to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Additional hours may be available during winter/summer breaks.
$10.50 per hour, DOE.
This is a pool position and applicants will be reviewed on an as-needed basis during the year.
PLEASE NOTE: This student position is located off campus; Fairbanks North Star Borough bus transportation is available to and from campus. With your UAF ID, transportation is free.
The Environmental, Health, Safety and Risk Management (EHSRM) Student Office Assistant works under the general direction of the EHSRM Director to assist the department in the data entry and tracking of UAF Employee Safety Training requirements. A student with engineering, science or math major/coursework/background is preferred, but not necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enter results of Safety Quizzes into Intelex database and run training reports for management.
- Support Environmental, Health, Safety, and Risk Management staff with various projects as needed by staff members.
- Other duties will be assigned as skills and knowledge of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management grow.
- Sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Experience with working with the public.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Excel. Experience/knowledge of databases, preferable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Excel and databases.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment.
- Attention to detail critical.
- Good people skills.

Special Conditions of Employment:
Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
