The LRC of Mat-Su College is seeking a student employee to assist with department needs during the 2017-2018 academic year. The MSC Learning Resource Center offers testing and tutorial services.

The MSC Learning Resource Center (LRC) offers testing and tutorial services.
The candidate(s) selected to work in this department may be required to work some evenings. The student work schedule will be determined based on the needs of The Learning Resource Center and the student's class schedule. Work schedule will be discussed at the time of the interview.

Required knowledge, skills, & abilities:
Ability to multi-task and maintain composure, attention to detail
Willingness to contribute to a team and project a professional appearance and demeanor
Experience with multiple computer applications, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, scheduling software and more
Ability to speak clearly and coherently in person and on the telephone
Excellent customer service skills with audiences from diverse backgrounds
Willingness to work hard and take instructions from multiple co-workers
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling departmental records
Ability to use office equipment, organize materials and information, and stock supplies
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred knowledge, skills, or abilities:
Previous clerical experience & familiarity with computer troubleshooting preferred.

The LRC Student Assistant will aid manager, tutors, and proctors with the following tasks:
1. Schedule appointments using electronic scheduling software
2. Greet students and address their questions
3. Answer phone, take messages, route calls appropriately
4. Perform general office duties including filing, copying, data entry
5. Ensure that the Learning Resource Center stays neat and clean
6. Monitor supplies and stock when necessary
7. Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by manager, proctors, and tutors
Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load).
