Position Summary:

The KPC Administrative Services Technician will conduct customer focused services regarding payroll and also assist with other business office related services.

Duties:

10File Maintenance Responsible for departmental filing including confidential student accounts and HR documents. Scan department documents in to OnBase.Essential
15Job Form Verification Verify job form data entry using turnarounds. Confirm contract/appointment letters coding and labor distribution are correct.Essential
25Enter Job Forms (HR assignments) into financial management report for all funds to ensure accurate payroll expenditure projections. Maintain Position Control Number spreadsheetEssential
40Payroll Gather and verify completeness and accuracy of timesheets for staff and faculty, verify pay rates, labor distribution and other information according to policies and/or union collective bargaining agreements. Download system generated reports to audit keyed and system generated time entries, using the HR system, Fair Labor Standards Act, State and Federal laws and University policies and regulations. Resolve payroll issues and discrepancies with employees/supervisors relating to timesheet submissions, work and leave time, pay, and labor distributions. Coordinate with UAA payroll department staff for payroll related adjustments, leave adjustments, stop payments, & check re-issues.Essential
5Mail Distribution and Routing Prepare outgoing mail for pickup by US Post Office, UPS, and Fed-Ex. Operate postage machine, apply correct amount of postage to all outgoing letters and parcels, charge postage to appropriate department, and maintain adequate funds in the postage machine. Sort incoming mail and parcels. Delivery to mailboxes or departments as needed. Ensure all outgoing and incoming mail is adequately secured. Balance postage account, prepare month end journal voucher to distribute postage fees to department budgets.Essential
5Misc. Duties Maintain supplies and supply storage. Provide support to staff within the department as needed. Responsible for department BizHub maintenance and reporting.Essential

The position will conduct customer focused services regarding payroll and also assist with other business office related services. This position is part-time, 20 hours per week, grade 75, $16.99 hourly wage; benefits and tuition waivers included. Kenai Peninsula College (KPC) is a campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage. The college has three locations and is comprised of:

Typical Education or Training:
One year of college coursework in accounting or related field and/or tow years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Associates Degree preferred.

Experience:
- Two years relevant experience in an accounting position.
- Experience in a position where accuracy in handling detailed work requires analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience in a position requiring organizing multiple tasks on a daily basis and adhering to multiple deadlines accurately with attention to details.
- Computer experience in Microsoft Office, Intermediate experience with Excel spreadsheets; 10-key and standard business machine experience.

Preferred Experience
- Knowledge and experience processing payroll.
- Experience with Banner, OnBase, TEMS, PageUp and TOAD.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Sound verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to bring to a teamwork environment.
- Knowledge of state and federal payroll regulations and requirements.
- Ability to interpret and apply University BOR Policy/Regulations for payroll.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel information and files.
- Strong analytical & problem solving skills.
- Ability to operate standard business machines, personal computers with associated software and 10-key by touch.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel to develop spreadsheets and reports.
- Show flexibility in response to procedural change and adapt to and accommodate new methods and procedures.
