Our Learning & Testing center are seeking student math tutors to assist with all tutoring, grading, and proctoring services. Completion, or present enrollment in Math152 (Trigonometry is required. This is a great opportunity to improve skills, learn about tutoring/teaching strategies, and gain professional work experience. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and filled as positions become available.
100 Math tutors are responsible for carrying out Learning Center tasks at the request of Learning Center staff: Conduct single, or group tutoring sessions without supervision; maintain student tutoring session records upon request; attend training sessions delivered by the Learning Center Coordinator and faculty. Math tutors are responsible for proctoring exams, monitoring students at the Testing Center, and maintaining the integrity of the examinations and testing environment. They will alert the Learning Center staff about students with special needs. Help provide maintenance to the Learning & Testing Center facility and its resource materials.

Completion of/or present enrollment in Math 152 (Trigonometry)
Average grade of "B" or better previous Math courses.
Knowledge of basic academic course content and tutoring strategies required.
Must have ability to recognize various learning styles, communicate effectively with students and faculty, and be highly responsible and organized.
Higher level Math coursework and/or Statistics coursework and/or prior tutoring experience desirable.
Student Employment Requirements
Must be a UAS student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours throughout employment duration
Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
This is a Student Assistant C position, $10.50/hourly, with exceptional placement dependent on experience.

NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
