Position Summary:

Information Technology Services is looking for applicants who are interested in the field of technology and would like the opportunity to start out in a receptionist level position while continuing their college education with UAA.

Information Technology Services is looking for applicants who are interested in the field of technology and would like the opportunity to start out in a receptionist level position while continuing their college education with UAA.  

Knowledge/Skills/Abilitites:

Qualifications that are preferred, but not required are experience working in a technology service center, familiarity with general office equipment, and overall general organizational skills.

Required Experience:

The successful applicant will represent the Information Technology Department by maintaining the front counter and serving as the preliminary contact for all visitors to the department and all incoming calls to the University of Alaska Anchorage switchboard. Successful candidates must be able to conduct financial transactions (cash, check, credit, and Wolfbucks). As the IT Services office is considered a secured facility, this position will greet and direct visitors, work with vendors for facility access (key distribution), and escalate security issues as appropriate. Furthermore, this position will be responsible for the distribution/check-out process for authorized software licenses ensuring eligibility requirements and licensing compliance. The successful applicant will also sustain a positive working environment with friendly customer service to all visitors to the department and perform administrative tasks to include filing, data management of sensitive records, processing of incoming and outgoing mail, and serve as the point of contact for any miscellaneous projects assigned by their supervisor. Other duties may be assigned.

Typical Education or Training:

Applicants must have experience using software such as Windows 2007, MS Office 2013/2016(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). Strong verbal communication, excellent customer service skills, public relations, and the ability to work in a diverse environment of students, faculty, and staff are required for this position. A high level of confidentiality for sensitive information and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodations) for tasks to include restocking paper and supplies. Applicants must have receptionist skills to include: use of multi-line phone systems, the ability to handle high call volumes while managing multiple tasks at the same time, receiving and distribution of mail, administrative responsibilities including filing and assisting with data management, and other duties as assigned

Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or b. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and c. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee. d. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer. e. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility
