The University of Alaska Southeast’s (UAS) invites applications for a tenure track accounting position within the Department of Business and Public Administration (BPA) at the Assistant Professor level. Expected hire date is August of 2018. The UAS business program is an ACBSP accreditation candidate and the accounting program is seeking separate specialized accounting accreditation. Applicants seeking a balance of teaching and service responsibilities will find a collegial work environment. 100% Primary duties are to teach four undergraduate courses each fall and each spring semester in an online format, or face-to-face during the day and/or evening. Faculty are expected to hold a minimum of reasonable number (currently five) of office hours per week, advise and mentor students, and be proactive and collaborative in developing and modifying curriculum. In addition, candidates will participate in departmental and university service, public service and engage in continuing professional development. Essential
Qualified to teach in one or more areas of accounting with a preference for Principals of Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, and Financial Management at the undergraduate level.
Ability to coordinate internships with local employers and be an effective faculty advisor to accounting program students.
Outstanding teaching and excellent communication skills are required.
Candidates with financial accounting and financial management interests are preferred. Professional work experience in accounting and professional certifications (i.e. certified public accountant, certified managerial accountant) are desired.
Typical Education or Training:
Minimum: Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance with CPA or other appropriate accounting professional certification.
Preferred: Preference given to Ph.D. or DBA with an emphasis in accounting or closely related area. ABD's will be considered; however, ABD's would be expected to complete their degree before or by August 2018 for full preferred consideration.
