Position Summary:

The College of Engineering (CoEng) Building Manager on Duty is a student employee that monitors the service, safety, and security of the Engineering Buildings (EIB and ECB) by walking rounds, responding to issues, and completing shift reports. The Building Manager on Duty serves as the “eyes and ears” of the building and reports to the College of Engineering Facilities Manager.  Areas of responsibility are restricted to spaces that fall under low hazard protocol such as building common areas, classrooms, and computer labs.

Duties:

The College of Engineering (CoEng) Building Manager on Duty is a student employee that monitors the service, safety, and security of the Engineering Buildings (EIB and ECB) by walking rounds, responding to issues, and completing shift reports. The Building Manager on Duty serves as the “eyes and ears” of the building and reports to the College of Engineering Facilities Manager.  Areas of responsibility are restricted to spaces that fall under low hazard protocol such as building common areas, classrooms, and computer labs.

 

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor and regulate service, safety, security of the building
  • Execute emergency procedures (such as building evacuation) according to Building Emergency Plan
  • Interpret and enforce UAA Building Access Policy and UAA Lab Access Policy
  • Perform hourly rounds of the building. Ensure all doors are secure (remove props) and that no unauthorized personnel are present in secure labs and spaces.
  • Monitor condition of facilities and notify Facilities Manager of any issues identified
  • Ensure students working the computer labs adhere to CoEng Computer Lab Rules
  • Assist students with basic computer and printers issues as much as possible
  • Notify Facilities Manager of any problems with the computers or printers
  • Straighten desks, equipment, chairs, etc. and clean up any trash
