15% Assessment & Continuous Improvement:
Assess effectiveness of recruitment, admissions and advising programs annually. Report regularly on key findings and metrics. Use the assessment and data to drive program improvements and support continuous improvement required for NWCCU accreditation. Work closely with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness to provide regular enrollment reports, including weekly reports during the registration period. Make recommendations on policy and regulation changes to Vice Chancellor as needed. Essential
30% Leadership: UAS offers a wide variety of programs at its Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan campuses. These are available both in person and on-line.
The Director of Recruitment, Admissions, and Advising will provide vision and direction for UAS recruitment, admissions, and advising. Foster a culture of service to students, efficiency, fair and consistent application of policy. In coordination with Academic Affairs, provide leadership and accountability in development and implementation of the Strategic Enrollment Plan. Ensure that the Enrollment effort stays focused on the goal of maintaining a diverse student body that reflects the local and state population. Coordinate recruitment, admissions and advising efforts with academic departments, Sitka and Ketchikan Campuses. Serve on the Chancellor''s Cabinet, the Chancellor''s Strategic Enrollment Task Force, and other committees, as necessary. Essential

Provide direction for recruitment, admissions and advising that ensures accuracy, integrity and the timeliness of services. Determine work distribution, assignments, and priorities.
Recruitment and Admissions:
Directly supervise the recruitment team (three admissions counselors, database coordinator), and admissions coordinator. Lead the recruitment effort by establishing annual recruitment goals, implementing recruitment plans and aligning enrollment efforts with the University’s Strategic Enrollment Management Plan. Lead the staff in frequently engaging with community organizations, high schools, and high school counselors to sustain effective recruitment relationships, especially in underserved communities.
Supervise and monitor admissions processing. Troubleshoot as issues arise.
Design and implement effective communication plans targeting prospective students. Work closely with the Creative Manager and Web Master to maintain fresh and innovative recruitment materials that are consistent with UAS branding efforts.
Directly supervise two academic advisors and the National Student Exchange advisor. Provide leadership in the Regional Advising Group. Ensure effective implementation and use of the advising and early alert programs and software. Essential
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience
Master's degree preferred
Three years of progressively responsible, relevant experience
Two years of management experience
Experience working successfully with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds is preferred
Ability to develop and implement effective strategies for student recruitment, including leadership in meeting recruitment and retention goals.
Strong leadership and management skills. Ability to develop and manage a budget.
Effective verbal and written forms of communication.
Knowledge about Alaska and the University of Alaska.
Knowledge and/or ability to interpret rules, regulations, processes, and policies related to higher education administration.
Preference for candidate with demonstrated successful experience working with underserved populations.
