Position Summary:

UAA Information Technology Services is seeking a highly qualified individual to lead our Web/Applications Team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in web development using technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server. The Web/Applications Team is responsible for managing the University’s content management and learning management systems, integrating with 3rd party software, and creating and maintaining custom applications for use across campus. Duties:

10Database design, integration and programming. Support for customer database hosting.Essential
10Direct the daily activities of programmers within the Web/Applications group and oversee all group projects. Provide feedback to group programmers on matters relating to technical systems, technology and projects.Essential
10Responsible for the development and maintenance of documentation, reference guides, manuals, training materials related to supported applications.Essential
15Design and development of customer web applications, databases, and scripts.Essential
15Provide technical expertise in web site presentation, strategies, programming, implementation and reporting to meet the internal needs of the IT Services'' department. Assist in development of the University''s Web infrastructure strategy.Essential
30Operate and maintain the University''s content management and learning management system and provide engineering support for core software products that comprise these platforms. Provide support of major UA System software initiatives.Essential
5Perform on-call functions. Independently provide required assistance for change management and system service restoral after-hours as required.Essential
5Provide, recommend, select, purchase support and implement commercial enterprise application services and equipment.Essential

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of web and application programming using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, ASP.NET, PowerShell, web authoring tools, and industry trends in web technology.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with database design and programming using MS SQL Server and TSQL.
  • Technical writing, content development and project management skills.
  • Familiarity of web accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework and methodologies.
  • Ability to successfully speak in public on topics related to job and major projects.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in software engineering and web development in support of an enterprise software infrastructure.
  • Prior experience in project management and with enterprise content management systems is preferred.

Typical Education or Training:
A baccalaureate degree that relates to the discipline of Information Technologies or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
