Position Summary:

The College of Education (COE) Dean's Office at the University of Alaska Anchorage provides a wide range of services to its students, faculty, staff, as well as the Anchorage and Alaska school districts. This position plays a role in supporting the COE Dean's Office and the Student Services Office. The successful candidates will work collaboratively and independently at times with a variety of responsibilities depending on current need. Incumbents for this position may support multiple areas of the college as needed.

Duties:

100Provide clerical support to the COE Dean''s Office and Student Services Office, including filing, photocopying, scanning, faxing, mailings, and production various types of documents (letters, memos, worksheets, presentation materials, etc.) Process and route miscellaneous forms for COE faculty, staff, and students. Local travel to off campus locations and local schools may be required. Perform data entry into databases while also proofing and editing documents. Must review and comply with FERPA and UAA''s confidentiality policy. Answer the mainline phone and greet faculty, students, and guests that come to the Dean''s Office and Student Services Office. Answer questions and direct customers to the appropriate party. Assist with maintenance of office supplies inventory. Assist with special projects as assigned. Assist with setting up special events. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Candidates must have customer service skills with the ability to multitask and complete assigned tasks by deadlines; professional telephone etiquette; ability to follow instructions and work independently; ability to maintain confidentiality; demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, which includes good grammar, punctuation, and spelling; the ability to organize and prioritize a fluctuating workload; demonstrated experience in general office procedures, practices and equipment; experience working with computer-based word processing, spreadsheet applications, databases, and electronic mail software; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Local travel to off campus locations and local schools may be required.:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Three months of previous experience working in a professional office setting.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Valid Alaska Driver's License with a good driving record.

Salary:  $10.50/hour
