This position is a Student Assistant C Labor Pool at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
The Department of English is recruiting for students to support the department's Digital Composition Studio (DCS). The person(s) in this position will work with and tutor students and faculty creating and revising multi-modal, multi-media, and digital texts (such as podcasts, Powerpoint presentations, and video arguments).
Duties / Responsibilities
Tutor and work with UAA students and faculty in the development, creation, and revision of multi-modal, multi-media, digital texts, and other similar projects.
Knowledge of the development, creation, and revision of multi-modal, multi-media, and digital texts, and/or other similar projects. Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making. Must be reliable and trustworthy and must work well with individuals with varied experiences in technology. Requires attention to detail and timeliness in completion of assigned tasks. Requires effective and timely communication skills.
Experience in creating multi-media texts. Experience in using digital technologies. Preferred experience in tutoring, and course work in Rhetoric.
Typical Education or Training:
In addition to the standard regulations for student employment, this position requires the applicant to have successfully completed at least 6 credits of Composition, and maintenance of a 3.0 grade point average (GPA).

NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 credits undergraduate hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
