UAF Human Resources is seeking highly motivated and independent student workers who want to be part of the operations of our office. Student positions are 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling during normal business hours.
About this position:
This is a part-time temporary position up to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Additional hours may be available during winter/summer breaks. Starting rate is $10.50 per hour DOE.
This is a pool position and applicants will be reviewed on an as-needed basis during the year.
NOTE: The UAF Human Resources office is not located on campus. It is located at 3295 College Road. Fairbanks North Star Borough bus transportation is available to and from campus. With your UAF ID, transportation is free.
Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and equipment. Possess basic clerical skills including accurate typing, data entry, filing.
Ability to use Microsoft Suite, Excel and other basic computer programs.
Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize projects. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and have strong organizational skills.
Ability to exercise courtesy and tact with HR's customers, in-person and on the phone.
Ability to handle confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
Sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Typical Education or Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Applicant should be enrolled as a UAF student in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student.

Special Conditions of Employment:
Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
