Position Summary:

Quality Matters (QM) Coordinator within Academic Innovations & eLearning (AI&e). AI&e assists faculty as they incorporate instructional technology, creates materials for online delivery, and works closely with faculty and administrators throughout the institution to promote the effective use of technology in teaching and learning.

30Faculty/Staff Development & Training : work with other trained QM facilitators across UAA and the Alaska system to provide location based and online Quality Matters trainings.Essential

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), Alaska’s largest university with 16,000 students in over 180 degree
programs, invites applications for the position of Quality Matters (QM) Coordinator within Academic Innovations &
eLearning (AI&e). AI&e assists faculty as they incorporate instructional technology, creates materials for online
delivery, and works closely with faculty and administrators throughout the institution to promote the effective use of
technology in teaching and learning.
As part of the instructional design team, the Quality Matters (QM) Coordinator will … The successful candidate will
also work closely with a team to provide professional development for faculty and develop institutional capacity
related to Quality Matters for the Alaska System.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Quality Matters coordination – UAA: Continue implementation of Quality Matters at UAA with a goal of
increased adoption and application of QM online course design standards; administer QM processes. Develop
and maintain QM web presence at UAA.
Quality Matters coordination – Alaska System: Coordinate with other members of the Alaska System to
develop appropriate process, practice, and policy; work toward continued growth of the QM Alaska System.
Administer QM processes. Develop and maintain QM web presence for the Alaska System.
Faculty/Staff Development & Training : work with other trained QM facilitators across UAA and the Alaska
system to provide locationbased
and online Quality Matters trainings.
Professional Development and Research : maintain certifications, pursue professional development that will
contribute to online course design and applications of course design standards, keep abreast of research related
to QM and online course design.
Minimum Requirements:
Certification as Quality Matters Peer Reviewer. Applied knowledge of Quality Matters practices, principles,
and process. Familiarity with industrystandard
course management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle,
etc); ability to work in a team setting; knowledge of principles and practices of instructional design; and
skilled in delivering professional development activities. Experience serving as a QM Coordinator is highly
desirable; certifications as Master Reviewer and QM trainer with Applying the Quality Matters Rubric
Improving Your Online Course workshops are also desirable. Experience teaching in higher education
online is very desirable.
Bachelor's degree in related field and 2-4years experience in developing online and/or instructorled
learning products with Quality Matters standards, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
