Position Summary:

The Department of Physics is seeking Paper Graders to assist faculty for the 17/18 AY. Hours are flexible!

Duties:

The department hires predominantly paper graders. These positions may become available throughout the semester and will be hired from this posting; therefore if you are interested in working with this department we encourage you to submit your application for consideration. As a reminder, student jobs are posted on a semester and/or as needed basis. Review of application may begin immediately after the job has been posted and will close once quota is met. Successful submission of an application does not guarantee an offer of employment. Applicants will be reviewed to ensure good academic and judicial standing.

PAPER GRADER DUTIES: Grade homework papers for Physics 102 103, 104, 115, 175, 211, 212 and 213. Assist in grading quizzes as needed. The grader is expected to keep a hand written gradebook, an Excel spreadsheet and also post scores to Blackboard. Student is expected to go through each problem and note mistakes in the solution. (Solution sets are provided by the faculty.) Students are expected to complete grading in a timely manner (usually 5 days) and to post the grades to Blackboard and/or to the instructor in that time frame. Students are expected to return homework in order specified by Lab Supervisor.

Typical education required: PHYS 103 paper graders; Algebra and trig proficiency, desirable to have already taken PHYS 103. PHYS 211/212: Typically two years of physics and math is sufficient. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and to post grades correctly.
