Duties:

100All Positions - Ability to communicate effectively and work with a diverse clientele - Ability to work independently on routine responsibilities - Must be able to plan, organize and execute a variety of tasks simultaneously Clerical Positions: Duties vary depending upon location. Typical duties may include: -Greet clients or public, prepare mailings, answer phones, data entry, file, scan, fax photocopy, type and other clerical duties. Laboratory Positions: -Process various types of samples and data for analysis, perform some analysis and statistic, wash glassware, record data, and computer data entry Land Use Surveyor: -Survey visitors or the general public, coordinate samples, monitor budget expenditures, data entry and analysis, and dissemination of results. Horticulture Positions: -Prepare seedbeds, plant, maintain and harvest research plots. -Collect samples and record experimental data. -Assist in landscape construction projects building retaining walls, bed edging, pathways, rock work. Duties involve strenuous physical labor outdoors, such as lifting fertilizer bags, rocks and containers of soil, working around farm machinery such as tractors, rototillers, trucks, and hand and power tools. Office Assistant: Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and equipment; Working knowledge of software such as Word, Excel and Adobe; Computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, internet and email; Basic clerical skills including accurate typing and filing, photocopying, scanning, and faxing; Good communication skills; Ability to pay attention to detail; Good organizational skills; Ability to follow directions; Ability to maintain confidentiality and ability to communicate clearly, courteously and tactfully with the public; Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical activity such as moving boxes and handling large mailing tubes. Laboratory Assistant: Some or all of the following: Valid driver''s license; Ability to lift 40 lbs; Ability to follow detailed instructions; Ability to work independently; Ability to accurately collect and record data; Plant identification skills; Ability to perform repetitive tasks; Knowledge of plant biology; Knowledge of Laboratory research; Computer data entry skills. Land Use Surveyor: Ability to interact with various audiences such as the public, supervisor, grant sponsor; Knowledge of recreation management; Accurate and efficient data entry skills; Attention to detail; Ability to work outdoors in inclement conditions. Horticulture: Knowledge of basic gardening and greenhouse techniques and use of hand and power tools. Ability to work independently and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work outdoors regardless of weather. Knowledge of plants, greenhouse management, landscape construction and horticulture field production techniques. Knowledge of Macintosh computer and software. Experience with Excel and FileMaker Pro. Ability to correctly and accurately gather and record date. Reindeer Program Farm/Field Assistant: (Any semester) This position could be assisting at the farm located at UAF, including maintenance and upkeep of facilities and animals. This position could also include some field assistance located on the Seward Peninsula, including maintenance and operation of ATV, boat, snowmachines, and data collection.Essential
