Position Summary:

The Department of Philosophy is seeking applicants for their adjunct labor pool. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute a hiring agreement, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester; hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis, according to the needs of that semester's schedule.

The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more undergraduate courses in a manner consistent with the specific Course Content Guide. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught.Essential

The Department of Philosophy is seeking applicants for their adjunct labor pool. Qualified applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool for the academic year from which adjunct instructors will be hired. 

Applicants should be available to work within Alaska during the length of the assignment.

Duties/Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more courses in a manner consistent with the course content guide. Course descriptions can be found online in the UAA catalog at http://catalog.uaa.alaska.edu/. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught and available for contact with students.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students.  

Typical Education or Training
Master's degree in Philosophy or related field is required. 

A PhD in Philosophy or related field is preferred for lower division (100 and 200 levels) courses and required for upper division (300 and 400 level) courses. 

College level teaching in Philosophy is preferred.
