Position Summary: The Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization (OIPC) (www.uaf.edu/oipc) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) seeks an Outreach Coordinator/Office Manager. UAF researchers conduct approximately $120 million per year in research. Much of this research can lead to commercial products, licenses, technologies, and other intellectual property that, if licensed or sold to business, could provide competitive business advantage and create jobs. OIPC is charged with working with UAF faculty staff and student inventors to protect and commercialize their research.

The Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization (OIPC) identifies University technology, supports its development, protects and markets it, and commercializes the technology through licensing, support for startup companies, and more generally promotion of economic development and an entrepreneurial ecosystem.  As a small office with a broad reach, this position's tasks cover a wide range. 

The successful applicant will start by learning the business of the office by performing administrative duties for the office, including; working with UAF inventors to execute technology disclosures and non-disclosure agreements; maintaining invention databases and office website; handling communications, inquiries, and managing access to OIPC resources; managing and tracking expenditures, royalty payments, and travel and a limited amount of promotion and marketing.  As knowledge and experience increase – promotion, outreach, and marketing tasks will constitute a growing proportion of the workload.  Depending on ability, tasks eventually may include extensive networking and outreach inside and outside the University, marketing and sales of University technology, and promotion of the office's services, successes, and mission.  Candidates should be professional, organized, motivated, independent, and capable of thinking critically about how to tackle unique challenges.  Please feel free to call 907-474-2626 for more information.

50Marketing, Outreach, and Promotion: * Manage all aspects of marketing, outreach, and advancement of technologies and economic opportunities to both internal and external customers; focusing on economic development and marketing campaigns to potential licensees of UAF produced technologies. *Program and event planning and coordination. *Maintain and develop the OIPC website. *Create marketing material and production fliers, videos, presentations, posters, prints, business cards, thank you cards, and banners.Essential
