This Student Assistant C position supports various activities related to the Statewide Human Resources/Labor Relations Department at the University of Alaska.
The successful student will need to be a quick learner with a desire to learn. This position is designed for students who would like hands-on experience in Labor Relations and Human Resources.

Must be a UA student taking a minimum of 6 credits during the school semester. Must have a current and cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
Education and/or training required for this position (including licenses)
Prefer student who has completed some coursework in either accounting, bookkeeping, human resources or a business studies program.
Type and length of experience required for this position
One year of office experience preferable.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position
Demonstrated use/ knowledge of office equipment, including photocopying and scanning. Ability to use MS Office Suite of software to compose correspondence, create databases and prepare presentations (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Ability to use database programs (Excel, Access) to manipulate and present data. Professionally greet visitors, answer the telephone, route calls, and provide basic information. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to follow detailed technical instructions. Possess a high level of organizational skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, work under pressure and complete complex tasks. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

100 This position will give a student the opportunity to work with several different Human Resources/Labor Relations professionals while broadening their experience and skills in these areas. This position will be supporting Labor Relations and perform duties to include but not limited to; creating and maintaining databases, run reports, research specific topics, photocopy, file, gather and deliver mail, and answer a multi-line phone.
