Position Summary: The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is recruiting for a Learning Space Administrator. Provide project leadership and perform highly specialized technical tasks to develop, design, deploy, and maintain instructional technology to enhance learning environments campus-wide.

Requirements of the Job:
Have a current and valid Alaska Driver's License or able to obtain by date of hire. Needed for travel to various locations on campus using a department vehicle.
Experience successfully managing IT projects from initiation through delivery, including oversight of system integration, project and campus communications, interface with vendors, and managing risk.
Excellent multi-tasking skills.
Prioritizes and performs a variety of concurrent tasks with minimal direction.
Must be able to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
Very strong organizational and prioritizing skills a must.
The ability to work professionally as a part of a team and directly with the users is important.
Must be capable of working across functional boundaries.
Must work within OIT's culture of accountability, fully embracing cultural beliefs and working within those to achieve aligned results
Must be able to physically lift and move audio/visual equipment and associated hardware.
Must be able to work nonstandard work hours occasionally.
Must have experience using Microsoft Office Suite (excel, word, powerpoint)
Must have experience with integrated technology services include but are not limited to analog and digital presentation display technology, hardware and software control systems, control systems programming, security, digital streaming, and infrastructure.
Ability to travel off-site meetings for the purpose of audio/visual configuration, support, and end user training may be required on occasion.
Typical Education or Training:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a related field and 2 years applicable work experience in direct learning space support. Combinations of education & experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
Extron Control Systems Specialist certification (ECS) preferred.
ITIL Foundations certification preferred.
Experience with audience response systems.
Demonstrated ability to program multimedia control systems; design complex integrated AV/IT systems; and develop, plan, and coordinate campus-wide hardware/software changes and other large-scale projects; and excellent understanding and proficiency with a wide range of information technology tools and topics.
In depth understanding of analog and digital electronics and multimedia systems including: audio and video systems technologies such as projectors and other display devices; routing systems; audio systems; echo cancellation; camera, lighting and microphone systems; and room control systems. In depth knowledge of videoconferencing codecs, audio, and camera control.
Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively with faculty and staff with varying degrees of technical knowledge/aptitude.
Ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment where knowledge, code and effort are shared among colleagues. Excellent problem solving skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a strong customer service attitude.
Ability to understand needs of users.
Ability to visualize, prioritize and execute to deliver results that add value to the University community.
Ability to articulate software architectures and to capture and possibly redefine business requirements

20 Communication and Documentation--
Readily engages and develops strong relationships with faculty, students, and technical staff to ensure the effective use of instructional technology to enhance learning. 20 Design, Build, and Project Management--
Develop plans for the creation of new and renovated learning space environments campus-wide with special emphasis on the technology infrastructure, innovative room design, ergonomics, and application of instructional technology. Technologies include but are not limited to analog and digital presentation display technology, hardware and software control systems, control systems programming, security, digital streaming, and infrastructure. Implement project management principles in designing and delivering learning space technology solutions; including resource allocation, fiscal projection, management and reporting. Administer/oversee construction work and installation to ensure project specifications are followed and quality control is maintained. Read and augment engineering drawings specifying equipment and wiring locations for new and retrofitted builds. Collaborate across OIT functional boundaries and with engineers and facility crews to ensure successful project outcomes. 60 Application and Systems Administration--
Subject matter expert in all areas of learning space technology. Understands industry best practice regarding configuration and operation of all learning space technologies employed campus-wide; collaborates with other functional areas to evaluate, adapt, define processes and implement adoption across functional boundaries. Collaborates with other UA system campuses to implement best practices for network configuration, router, switch, and VLAN settings; is aware of and ensures network security. Maintains technical currency and working knowledge of new and emerging technology trends, builds business cases and recommends hardware and software solutions for implementation. Analyzes, modifies and establishes support procedures within the OIT service management processes. Troubleshoots learning space technology under sometimes stressful, high-profile situations. Ensure staff understand and follow standard operating procedures and guidelines. Maintains and improves software applications.
