Position Summary: UAF's Community and Technical College is seeking an energetic Assistant Child Care Teacher / Program Aide for our Bunnell House Early Childhood Lab School. The successful candidate must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs and have good vision and hearing as mandated to meet all childcare regulatory and licensing requirements.
UAF's Community and Technical College is seeking an energetic Assistant Child Care Teacher / Program Aide for our Bunnell House Early Childhood Lab School. UAF CTC employs a diverse population of approximately 40 full-time faculty and 300 adjunct faculty who are represented by two unions and a staff of about 40. Approximately 3300 students attend UAF CTC. We are culturally diverse and include many non-traditional students and students from the military community as well.
The successful candidate will work in conjunction with a Lead Teacher planning and implementing model developmental programs. They will assist in the implementation of the program plan and provide the daily care, education, and supervision of children in an assigned area; observe, record, and report individual and group behavior in an accurate and timely manner; assist in the care and supervision of children, including changing, toileting, feeding, nap time, and playground supervision; and assist in providing an environment of acceptance in which children can grow with positive self-concept.
The successful candidate must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs, and have good vision and hearing as mandated to meet all childcare regulatory and licensing requirements. Infant-child-adult first aid and CPR certification are a must in this position.

Safety/Health: Establishes and maintains a well-organized, safe, healthy environment for children. Checks materials, equipment and supplies to see that amounts are adequate and in good repair. Takes preventive measures against hazards to physical safety. Identifies unusual behavior or symptoms which may indicate need for health care. Supervises and plans for sanitary, social and positive meal times for children.
Children/Families: Recognizes and supports the diverse needs of student, staff and faculty families using the UAF Community & Technical College Early Childhood lab services. Establishes positive, supportive, professional relationships with each family. Participates in the registration of students for the school year and summer program as well as other special activities.
