UAS Student Ambassador
Our Student Ambassadors will work with the Admissions Counselors and the Student Resource Center to serve as a liaison between the University of Alaska Southeast and prospective students. Primary duties include leading campus tours, assisting with administrative office duties, student outreach, initial point of contact for the Student Resource Center, appointment scheduling and helping with various campus and community events. This is a great opportunity to gain first-hand student recruitment and professional customer service experience, while attending classes. Student Ambassadors will be scheduled to work part-time (40 hours per pay period) during the academic year. Event Technician - Student Assistant B
The Student Activities Office at the University of Alaska Southeast will be hiring two students to serve as event technicians. If you like working behind the scenes, helping to make events like concerts, performances, dances, and film screenings a success, then this position may be for you. The successful applicants will set-up and tear-down Student Activities events including seating, tables, staging, and decor at a variety of campus venues. This position will assist the Student Activities Board Audio Visual Techincal Specialist in sound and lighting set-up for events when needed. Successful applicants may also occasionally lead student volunteers in assisting with set-up and tear-down of large events. Hours will be variable due to event schedules. This position is ideal for a student looking to work up to 5 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

Term Researcher, Alaska Coastal Research Center

This is a one-year term Research Technician position serving in a support role for a wide range of research projects focused on ecosystem ecology and services in the Pacific Coastal Temperate Rainforest region, as well as for faculty laboratory teaching support. Personal Education Planner: Online Education and eLearning Specialist
The Personal Education Planner (PEP) – Online Education and eLearning Specialist provides student support services in providing individualized academic guidance, success coaching, and personal support for students from inquiry through graduation or completion of their personal academic goals as part of grant activities, focusing on the onboarding of students who are new to online education or returning to college after a break. Proactively connect with new and at-risk students to facilitate pre-semester online and eLearning technology orientation. Support, plan, develop and implement programs and activities to meet grant objectives. Through virtual outreach and travel to rural Alaskan communities, foster partnerships with school counselors, job centers, tribal entities, civic offices, and other organizations and individuals who can serve as points of contact and partners to advance grant objectives. Facilitate online/hybrid learning communities to engage students with peers, staff, and faculty. Support resource development for the three primary projects of the grant.
This is a 12-month, full-time position funded by a five-year federal Title III grant awarded to Alaska Native-serving institutions of higher education; grant term ends 9/30/2020.
Successful applicant must relocate/reside in Sitka. Some outreach travel and work on nights/weekends will be required.
