The School of Arts & Sciences is seeking a Program Coordinator to oversee the emerging Northwest Coast Native Arts (NWC) program at the University of Alaska Southeast, in the School of Arts and Sciences, on the Juneau campus. This position is a 70% time position, funded by a three-year grant with Sealaska Heritage Institute, with the purpose of expanding education on Northwest Coast Native Arts. The position reports directly to the Dean of Arts & Sciences and is responsible for organizing and managing studio space, course scheduling, and adjunct support, in coordination with the Humanities Department. CAAS conducts research that addresses substance abuse in Alaska. The Center focuses on interdisciplinary and collaborative studies related to health issues of particular relevance to Alaskan residents. Prospective research foci include the determinants of substance abuse behaviors including alcohol, tobacco, and other harmful substances, protective factors associated with resilience in the face of such effects, and practical interventions to mitigate the effects of or treat such behaviors. Applicants must hold an earned terminal degree (MD, PhD, or DrPH) in alcohol and addiction studies or a related field and be qualified to teach research methods and addiction classes.
